Magnani's Portofino 1404 watercolor block is a unique product with a rich history dating back more than 600 years that enjoys an impeccable reputation among professional artists and art enthusiasts. Made from 100% of the purest cotton fibers, this paper is produced using traditional methods on cylindrical drum machines, which gives it a unique texture and properties. It features a smooth, almost satin hot-press surface, which is ideal for precise watercolor work. Its natural whiteness, obtained without the use of optical brighteners, ensures optimum color rendering. The paper is acid-free, which guarantees its resistance to aging processes and yellowing under UV rays, ensuring the durability of works for more than 100 years. The double-sided inner and outer bond, made using a synthetic equivalent of gelatin without zoonotic ingredients, gives it exceptional strength. As a result, the paper perfectly withstands all corrections, paint removal and multiple layers of pigment. At the same time, it has the ability to absorb large amounts of water without becoming deformed. "Portofino" is a versatile medium, recommended not only for watercolor, but also for works made with tempera, gouache, ink, acrylic, and even for graphic techniques such as lithography or linocut, as well as dry techniques including pencil, crayons, soft pastels or charcoal.
