Schmincke gum arabic

Gum arabic is a natural resin that is obtained from various species of acacia, most often Senegalese. It is a binder of watercolor paints and tempera. It reduces the drying time and the formation of stains and increases the transparency, intensity and gloss of paints. The medium is not recommended to be used directly from the bottle, because thick layers of rubber will be brittle and fragile. Gum arabic is water-soluble, so if necessary, you can add it to a jar of water (it is recommended to use a few drops) and then use it for paints. The medium facilitates work and increases the control of watercolors spreading, especially when painting in the "wet on wet" technique on damp paper.
