Schmincke Kasein-Bindemittel is a ready-made casein binder for making casein and tempera paints on their own. Casein is a milk protein that forms a hydrolyzed, water-soluble emulsion when borax is added. The casein binder gives paints a matte, velvety appearance and good adhesion to a variety of substrates, such as paper, wood, metal, glass and fabric. It can also be used as an additive to acrylic paints, increasing their viscosity and consistency.
