Each pastel is hand-formulated with the finest artistic pigments, without the addition of chalk, which ensures exceptional stability and color intensity. The minimal amount of binder makes the pastels extremely delicate and soft to apply. The color range of Schmincke pastels includes as many as 400 shades, divided into 75 colors, each with 5 degrees of saturation: pure color (D), color with added black (B), color with one portion of white (H light), color with two portions of white (M lighter) and color with three portions of white (O brightest). To protect the finished work, we recommend Schmincke Aerospray fixative.
