Black hard acid-resistant wax (varnish), superimposed on polished, heated graphite plate (zinc or copper), before the engraving process, creates a hard matt surface, making the process easy to read. Surface engraved during engraving are subjected to the next step of acid digestion. Due to the acid resistance of the wax, the coated surfaces remain intact.
