Sennelier oil pastels

In 1949, Sennelier began developing artistic oil pastels specifically for the needs of the famous artist Pablo Picasso. He was looking for oil pastels with intense colors that could be used on a variety of surfaces. Sennelier oil pastels, made in Paris, are made from carefully selected mineral and organic pigments, mixed with a special non-drying binder and top-quality wax. The uniquely creamy texture of Sennelier oil pastels is achieved by the perfect combination of these three elements. Both the binder and the mineral wax are acid-free.

In use, they give an impression similar to soft pastels, but look and give an effect like oil paints. They are less brittle than traditional pastels. They allow you to create a heavy impasto effect, and when combined with a medium, you can use them for a glaze or watercolor effect.

Thanks to the concentration of high-quality pigments used in Sennelier oil pastels, they have exceptional opacity and are characterized by color intensity.

Sennelier oil pastels do not contain oxidants. This guarantees color intensity without yellowing or cracking, and prevents damage to the surface covered with pastels. The absence of oxidants means that oil pastels never dry out, but the surface can be sealed with a fixative.
