Graphic varnishes
Key components:
Judean Bitumen (carbon components soluble in organic solvents) - gives chemical protection against acid and gives an opaque and darkened color.
Waxes - their durability varies according to their properties. Waxes make the substrate susceptible (prevent ritual exfoliation), give a mat or gloss effect.
Dammar resin, so called. damara (natural resin) imastic (resin from the tree lentiscus pistachio) - transparent resins that strengthen the surface resistance. Their hardness does not interfere with engraving using tools. Mastic does not dissolve in white spirit.
Turpentine extract - dries slowly, giving the surface a medium shiny finish.
Quick-drying crude oil - dries faster than turpentine extract, gives a more matte finish.
Rosin - strengthens the resistance, hardness of the substrate, allowing tools to be engraved.
Resins - (colours: brown to black, depending on origin) improve the resistance, substrate durability.
Dry extract - a dry ingredient that does not oxidize.
