Yellow aurypigment - arsenic-sulfur compound
A bright dye with a golden color. Known in antiquity (it is also mentioned by Cennino Cennini.
In nature it occurs as a mineral. It is also produced artificially. Very poisonous.
Under light it discolors and blackens when combined with lead and copper dyes.
Red auripigment
Similar in hue to red chromium.
Chemical composition same as yellow auripigment, but contains less sulfur. Properties similar to yellow aurypigment.
Recognition:
Dissolves in nitric acid.
Mineral violet - manganese phosphate
Color similar to cobalt violet. As for its durability, there are different opinions. It depends primarily on the conditions in which it is used.
Recognition:
Resistant to dilute acids. In hydrochloric acid, heating with the addition of a small amount of sugar - it discolors.
Titanium white - titanium dioxide
Used since 1920. It is sold with the addition of barite or zinc white. It has extraordinary covering power. Flexible, insensitive to acids and alkalis and sulfur. Non-toxic. In combinations with ultramarine, cobalt and emerald - less durable.
In oil it tends to yellow.
Recognition:
Dissolves in concentrated hydrochloric acid.
When exposed to light, it turns an intense yellow color.
