Liquitex Professional Bio-Based Medium is an innovative line of painting mediums dedicated to acrylic paints of the same series, which combines top quality with environmental concerns. The matte medium reduces surface gloss while increasing the depth of color and transparency of the paint, which can be particularly desirable in some art projects. In addition, the media reduces the viscosity of denser paints, improving their fluidity and extensibility, allowing more economical use of pigments. The product is semi-transparent when liquid, and becomes transparent when dry, giving artists a wide range of possibilities to experiment with visual effects.

The main distinguishing feature of this media is its composition. Half of the traditional resin base, which is usually entirely derived from petrochemicals, has been replaced with ingredients sourced from renewable sources such as corn, soybeans, sugarcane and algae. These biological components can be reconstituted or supplemented relatively quickly through natural processes or cultivation, significantly reducing the negative environmental impact of production. The product can be diluted with up to 25% water, with distilled water achieving the best results.
